Most of the tips we have looked at so far stress more contemplative, meditative aspects to prayer.  This week I want to flip the coin and talk about using a prayer list.

There are many types of prayer – adoration, confession, thanksgiving, intercession, remembrance, etc.  But confession should hold a special place in our prayers.

Another practice I have found helpful in my prayer life is praying related to special days.  By this I mean there are certain events or seasons in life or the church that can guide our prayers.

One of the things that I have found helpful through the years is letting the Scripture guide my prayers. 

Prayer.  The very word often brings up feelings of guilt for many Christians.  Because “I know I should pray more but I just can’t seem to.”  Because “I have tried to pray but I find my mind wandering and then I just feel even more guilty.”  Because “I know I should pray – but I just don’t know how to pray.”

Knowing all of these things, what is your only comfort in life and death? Why do we end our prayer with “Amen”? We end our prayer with “Amen” to show that we earnestly desire these things, and we have confidence that our Father in heaven hears us and delights to answer our prayers, because every promise of God is given to us in Chris

What is the conclusion to the Lord’s Prayer and what does it teach us regarding prayer? The conclusion of the Lord’s Prayer is “For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” In it we learn to acknowledge all authority, power, and glory belong to God, and He is able to do all we ask and more; so we pray for these things that we might live for Him and His glory now and forever.
