I use worship music as part of my prayer time regularly.  We often forget that many of our worship songs to God are actually prayers.

Each year, many people celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  They may not have a drop of Irish blood, but for a day everyone seems to want to be Irish!  And this is appropriate – for Patrick himself was not even Irish!  

Most of the tips we have looked at so far stress more contemplative, meditative aspects to prayer.  This week I want to flip the coin and talk about using a prayer list.

There are many types of prayer – adoration, confession, thanksgiving, intercession, remembrance, etc.  But confession should hold a special place in our prayers.

Another practice I have found helpful in my prayer life is praying related to special days.  By this I mean there are certain events or seasons in life or the church that can guide our prayers.

One of the things that I have found helpful through the years is letting the Scripture guide my prayers. 

Prayer.  The very word often brings up feelings of guilt for many Christians.  Because “I know I should pray more but I just can’t seem to.”  Because “I have tried to pray but I find my mind wandering and then I just feel even more guilty.”  Because “I know I should pray – but I just don’t know how to pray.”

Knowing all of these things, what is your only comfort in life and death? That I with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong unto my faithful Savior Jesus Christ; who, with his precious blood, has fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my heavenly Father, not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, that all things must work together for my salvation, and therefore, by his Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me sincerely willing and ready, from this day forth, to live unto him.
