Praying In Different Locations

One thing I have noticed in my own prayer life is that sometimes a particular location can stir prayer.  Of course in the New Covenant, we know that God does not dwell in particular locations, nor is our worship restricted to particular locations (John 4:23-24).  However, I have found that certain locations help me to focus and encourage a spirit of prayer.  For me, a walk in the woods can often lead to a great time of prayer.  For this reason, I spent many hours praying as I walked paths in Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, or in a campground.

For some of you, a walk in the woods may have a similar effect.  For others, it might be a walk on the beach, or perhaps a particular room in your house.  Can you think of one or two places that you have found drawing you toward God in prayer?  The important thing is not the specific location but rather its effect in encouraging you to spend time in prayer.

If you are looking for a way to reset your prayer life, perhaps try praying in a different location.  Take a walk in the woods, or walk in the streets of Annapolis.  Find a place to sit by the Bay.  You may find that a particular location really helps you to focus your time of prayer – or perhaps a change of location will encourage renewed prayer.  Give it a try this week.
