Hindrances To Prayer - Unbelief
Hindrances to Prayer
Unbelief/Lack of Faith (August 2013 - Week 1)
(1). Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
(2). 2 Corinthians 5:7 We live by faith, not by sight.
(3). Hebrews 3:12 See to it brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
(4). James 1:6-7 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
(5). “Unbelief is not a misfortune to be pitied; it is a sin to be deplored. Its sinfulness lies in the fact that it contradicts the word of the one true God and thus attributes falsehood to Him.” [John Stott, The Epistles of John]
(6). Prayer thought: Unbelief begins with “Did God really say ...” (Genesis 3:1). Faith begins with “And God said ...” (Genesis 1:3). Prayer is listening through what faith began.
